This track is the first of a two-part series on medical emergencies and covers a wide range of common medical complaints. We will discuss the assessment and management of respiratory emergencies such as asthma and COPD, as well as neurological emergencies like seizures and stroke. The session will also cover endocrine emergencies, with a focus on managing diabetic patients experiencing hypoglycemia or hyperglycemia. We will emphasize the importance of a thorough patient history and the use of assessment tools like SAMPLE and OPQRST to guide your treatment decisions.
The second part of our medical emergencies series focuses on environmental and toxicological emergencies. We will cover the assessment and management of patients suffering from heat and cold-related emergencies, as well as bites and stings from venomous creatures.
